VTA Muththamil Vizha Competition was successfully held on 8th May 2022 at Wesley College, Glen Waverley. More than 250 Tamil students from various Tamil schools in Melbourne attended the event.

The competition aims to promote Tamil language and culture among the younger generation of the migrant Tamils in Australia. The competition allows children as little as 4-year-old to VCE students to participate in Speech, Singing, Essay writing and Oral presentation (discussion) in Tamil.

While we maintain a high standard for all forms of the competition, we encourage many students’ participation, which we believe is the key to promote our language and culture among our children. We also charge minimal admission fee to cover the cost of hiring the facilities only to encourage more student participation.

Learning through play is one of the most important ways children learn and develop. What a fantastic opportunity for our community to have a Tamil Playgroup in our own Victorian Tamil Community Centre in the heart of Dandenong.

This Tamil Playgroup will be run by trained Tamil teachers, and will be managed by VICSEG. This Playgroup aims to

Support children’s bilingual language development and provide babies, toddlers and young children a wide variety of early learning experiences.

Gives mums, dads, grandparents and caregivers a chance to share ideas and experiences; gain practical information about health, nutrition and child well-being
